New Products & Special Offers – New Games https://inewgames.com Fun Cooperative Play for Children and Adults Wed, 15 Apr 2026 21:42:24 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.9.26 New Soccer https://inewgames.com/products/new-soccer/ https://inewgames.com/products/new-soccer/#respond Wed, 30 Aug 2023 14:06:49 +0000 https://inewgames.com/?post_type=products&p=2805

Soccer (football in the rest of the world) is the organized sport most likely played by the most players in the world, and estimated 275 million. This video is intended for young or new players.

Instructions are given at the beginning of each game and the game is briefly demonstrated. The games that are presented in this video break down the actions in the game to its various elements and kicking, shooting, heading, defending, going against one or many opponents. These games are played for fun but in the process of playing them, players learn the skills they need to play the game.

Presented are 15 games by students of coach Darwin Dallas. They range in age from 8 to 18. Players in general should be grouped together by similar ability though in some games we have players of varying ages and ability.

At the very start, Basic Instructions are given on dribbling, kicking and heading the ball. Also, examples are give of the types of fouls: tripping, kicking a player, a violent charge (and a fair charge), holding, pushing, hand ball, obstruction and dangerous play.

The format for each game includes not only the name of the game, but also how many Players are needed, the amount of Space necessary to play, When to play the game (beginning, middle, end of session), the Purpose of doing the game, the Skills involved, and the Equipment needed.

Social skills involved in most of the games are cooperation, listening, self control, and following directions.

Developmental skills involved are skillfulness, balance, strength.

An interesting aside – the term “soccer” actually originated in England from the term Association Football but went into disuse, especially when it was used and thought to have originated in the United States. (I found it on the internet so it must be true. 🙂

New Fully Printed Earthball https://inewgames.com/products/new-earthball/ https://inewgames.com/products/new-earthball/#respond Fri, 24 Mar 2023 15:52:33 +0000 https://inewgames.com/?post_type=products&p=2778

The Earthball is a great symbol and a visual knockout.

Okay! I know I’ve asserted that equipment is not necessary for New Games, and that’s true. However, the enduring symbol for New Games is this large, light-weight Earthball, which was used in the very first New Games Festival in 1973. The ball was originally the idea of Ken Kesey (author of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”), and is now available for all New Games fans and leaders, to rent or buy. It can be used in moderately active competitive and a variety of cooperative activities. A summary of these games will be provided upon purchase.

Have a ball!

This New Earthball Is a fully preprinted, cloth skinned globe for moderately active field games. Brand new to my supplier, they have dye-sub printed, polyester skinned covers. Because they are printed in this way, the ink goes all the way through the fabric. This means the globe image doesn’t scratch off with use. The polyester material is hardy and they have a sturdy bladder inside.

As you can see, the printing these globes is gorgeous. Displayed is one of their 6-foot New Earthballs being played with by children. Notice the color and detail. You could never have done this on a canvas globe.

How are these Earthballs different to the original canvas globes?

These globes are lighter than the canvas one, the 6′ is 13 lbs. inflated. The original canvas one is more than double that. When little children play with the canvas ball, the ball must be watched by a responsible adult, since the inflated ball weighs about 30 lbs, and a child being hit by one can knock them for a loop. The New Earthball is safer In this regard. The original Earthball needs to be painted, the New Earthball comes already painted all the way through the fabric.

Turn Around Time

My supplier will often have these New Earthballs in stock. If they don’t have the size you need in stock, it will take around 3-4 weeks to make and be delivered. Please inquire to find out shipping costs and how long it will take to get you an Earth Ball. Location also makes a difference in delivery time from the supplier in the U.S. Pacific Northwest.

FAQs

Can I replace the New Earth Ball cover?

Yes. Here is where you can order it:

https://inewgames.com/products/earthball-replacement-cover/

Can I replace the New Earth Ball bladder?

Yes. You can order it here:

https://inewgames.com/products/spare-earthball-bladder/

Is the New Earth Ball heavy?

Thirteen pounds is what the New Earth Ball weighs. While that might not be much to an adult, it still might be a jolt to a small child, so we would recommend adult supervision when using the ball with younger kids.

How big is the New Earth Ball?

It is available in 4, 6 and 8 feet diameter sizes. Our 6 foot Earthball is the most popular.

How long does it take to get delivery of the New Earth ball?

These Earth balls are handmade to order, especially if you have a larger order. However, the supplier will often have some of the New Earthballs in stock. If they don’t have it or the size you need in stock, it will take around 3-4 weeks to make and be delivered.

Do I have to paint the New Earth ball?

No, they have dye-sub printed, polyester skinned covers. Because they are printed in this way, the ink goes all the way through the fabric. This means the globe image doesn’t scratch off with use.

Will the paint on the New Earth Ball eventually fade?

Perhaps a little, but much less than the canvas Earth Ball. That’s because the canvas ball is painted on the outer surface, while with the New Earth Ball is covered with ink that goes all the way through the fabric. This means the globe image doesn’t scratch off with use.

How durable is the New Earth Ball cover?

The New Earth Ball is a fully preprinted, rugged, cloth skinned globe for field games. For normal use it should last a long time. As with any inflatable, keep it away from sharp and especially pointed objects.

Is having an Earth Ball necessary for playing New Games?

No, but if you want to attract a crowd, especially at a festival or other gathering, an Earth Ball does draw people in.

New Games For Social Distancing https://inewgames.com/products/new-games-for-social-distancing/ Thu, 08 Oct 2020 11:15:17 +0000 https://inewgames.com/?post_type=products&p=2555 No-touch New Games!
Here is a product that will help you increase participation in your physical fitness programs while also meeting social distancing guidelines!

Or, just use them with family and friends and avoid the lock down blues.

People are quite hungry for a chance to take a break from all the dire news. It’s like taking a breath of fresh air. It’s a chance to let all those worries go, to relax, get recharged. Play is needed now more than ever.

While most New Games involve touching, there are a number that involve no touching and lend themselves to social distancing. It’s not hard to adapt these games, and I provide a page of written introductions to videos of the games explaining what you need to do.

Presented will be 24 New Games on video (plus two non-video bonus surprises) with adaptations for social distancing.

16 of the games can be done on Zoom or similar platforms. Nothing will replace the close contact of other people. But we’re in a situation that none of us have ever experienced before in our lifetimes, and just seeing and interacting with people we know helps bridge the gap until this virus is at a manageable state.

New Games brings people of all ages, sizes, and abilities together like few other things. It doesn’t matter if you’re old, young, skinny, large, athletic, uncoordinated, whatever. All you have to do is want to play. You can. You can also choose not to play. That’s OK, too. No-one is pushed in to an activity.

There will also be a 13 minute video on New Games Leadership, plus a few written tips as well.

The main elements of New Games are to have fun and include everyone who wants to play. No-one is ever eliminated. You are never forced to play, but you can play if you want to.

There are many social skills that are involved, like, to name just a few:

  • cooperation
  • listening
  • self control
  • following directions

There are also developmental skills skills involved that are part of these games, like:

  • skillfulness
  • balance
  • strength

These are all part of the games, though all are not part of every game.

In a recent study done at Sheffield Hallam University, it was shown how students who participated in New Games activities were more active than they were in their normal PE class, especially those who were the least active. This becomes important as an increasing number of people are becoming less and less active, resulting in more people not being fit. A problem associated with this is ever greater numbers of people who are overweight or obese. While playing New Games are not the only answer to solve this, they can contribute significantly if the games are done regularly.

What is included?

24 videos of New Games with descriptions of how to adapt them to meet social distancing requirements to keep players safe, plus two non-video bonus entries.

Complete Cooperative New Games (DVDs or Downloads) https://inewgames.com/products/complete-cooperative-new-games-dvd/ Mon, 02 Jun 2014 19:44:58 +0000 http://inewgames.com/website/?post_type=products&p=68 A two-disk DVD presenting the complete cooperative games of Dale Le Fevre. Included is the New Soccer video and an interview of Dale done by Parent TV, both on DVD for the first time. There are enough games here (123!) to keep your program going the whole year.

A Complete New Games Package

There are cooperative games with a lot of activity contained on this DVD, perfect for getting fit and keeping one’s weight down without the boredom of exercise! Regular participation in the games has kept the weight of the producer of this DVD in check, for one. Many developmental skills such as throwing, catching, and running are enhanced. However, it must be pointed out that the games are fun – that’s why we do them. In fact, that’s the main reason for doing them, even though there are ample additional benefits derived from participating in the games.

Resources for Teachers and Group Leaders

Teachers and group leaders will be glad to know that there are printable games descriptions and skill guides provided for every game, in PDF format. Almost every skill anyone can think of is covered in one or (usually many) more of these cooperative games. This includes basic learning skills such as listening, concentration, and following directions, but extends to math, English, and environmental awareness. Social skills such as team building, inclusion, and cooperation are reinforced. The games enhance creative thinking and expression. Also, most usefully, there is a PDF guide with suggestions on how to lead and adapt the games.

Cooperative Games Shown in Practice

A variety of people are shown doing the games: adults, teens, children, and both girls and boys. Anyone can join since, even in games where there is competition, winning is not the most important part of the game. Being able to join and have fun are the key elements of the games. We don’t have to suffer the extremes of competition.

The Spirit of Play: Cooperative Games for All Ages, Sizes, and Abilities https://inewgames.com/products/the-spirit-of-play-cooperative-games-for-all-ages-sizes-and-abilities/ Fri, 01 Jul 2011 22:46:58 +0000 http://inewgames.com/website/?post_type=products&p=384 The revised version of Dale Le Fevre’s original New Games book. Besides having 40 of his favorite cooperative games and pictures from around the world, it’s the only book that has his personal story of how he got into doing New Games for a living and as a spiritual search.

New Games and Cooperative Play: Light-Hearted Fun

When did you last enjoy spontaneous, light-hearted laughter and the wonderful feeling of being in the moment? Playing – just for fun – is one of the easiest and most joyful, life-affirming activities that can bring you into contact with your own spirit. No fancy equipment is needed, just find a few people to join you in games that anyone can play, regardless of age, ability, size, or gender.

Getting people to have fun just because it feels good is the mission of this guide that connects cooperative play and spirituality. More than 40 new activities suitable for all ages and abilities are offered, including seated games such as “A-Rum-Sum-Sum,” “Doctor Memory,” and “Zoom,” as well as active games such as “Trust Leap” and “Wizard.”

Innovative Ideas for Cooperative Play

The Spirit of Play is a great tool for use in:

  • Schools
  • Business seminars
  • Parties
  • Family gatherings

The activities are also a form of affirmation and starting your own process of self-discovery – the deeper significance of play is discussed throughout the book.

You will find:

  • Gentle and active games
  • Games for indoors and outdoors
  • Games for a few and for many players
  • Great ice-breaker games for new groups
  • Games to improve communication
  • Team-building games

Clear Guidance for All Groups and Leaders

Next to the game descriptions, the book gives insights on teaching people how to play and lead the games. Many suggestions are given for adapting games for a variety of situations and participants so that everyone can participate, including people in wheelchairs and the elderly, and leadership tips provide support for organizers and instruction-givers.

A Playful Man

Last, but first in the book, is Dale’s own tale of how he became a New Games player and leader. It’s hard to believe, but true!

Have you ever watched a bunch of kids having a blast just being alive and wondered when you forgot how to play? Have you lost the wonder you used to have when learning new things? Are your days missing the “Isn’t life grand?” factor? If so, this is the book for you!! This guy not only gives us all permission to have fun, he even tells us why it’s good for us!! If he can teach the gear-heads at IBM how to embrace their inner child, he can certainly teach the rest of us. Highly recommended!!

Best of New Games (DVD or Download) https://inewgames.com/products/best-new-games-dvd/ Fri, 01 Jul 2011 11:25:15 +0000 http://inewgames.com/website/?post_type=products&p=277

The Best of New Games DVD is an extensive presentation of New Games, with almost 2 hours of video. Dale N. Le Fevre, one of the founders of New Games, explains, demonstrates, and plays the games with groups. There is enough material here for you to successfully start an ongoing New Games program.

Cooperative Games for Learning

"Bronze Remi” award from Worldfest Houston

These cooperative games are for fun first, but intrinsic parts of the games are for learning (listening, following directions, concentration, and memory), social skills (teamwork, cooperation, inclusion, trust), and motor skills (running, throwing/catching). Without saying so, New Games teach or reinforce these plus basic skills in math, English, languages, and creative thinking, and expression. But to players, what matters is that New Games are fun!Recommended by the Coalition for Quality Children’s Media (Kids First!)

16 of the New Games were recently recorded in UK schools and 47 games are in an archived section, which feature people of mixed ages playing the games.
